Radiator overflow tank and fluid

Default Radiator overflow tank and fluid

im going to go buy a radiator overflow tank... just a whatever one from autozone... what do i need to make it work.. i thought i read something about a different cap.. is that it plus some tubing or is there more to it? and also how much radiator fluid do i need to fill up my stock radiator in my 69 302? and once the overflow is installed.. you dont put fluid in there correct? its just to catch

I put one on several years ago.I just bought one of the kits from the local auto part store. Eberything came in the kit. I don't remember having to put a different cap on and it seemed to work fine.You can get some really nice ones made from aluminum too. Those are a bit pricey though.

eep4life, I had one of those plastic kits once. Worked ok & easy to install. Just looked a bit ugly. Usually need to drill one or two holes in theinner fenderfor the screw mount. Then route tubing to it from the orig overflow port thats under the cap. Never gave any thought to what cap to use. Been using the standard replacement type with a lifting lever on it. Your stock rad holds 13.5 quarts, 15 if its AC equiped (according to my shop manual).

Mustangs plus sells a Stainless steel overflow reservoir for $67 if you are into dressing it up. Tube shaped and can mount along side your radiator in the stock bolt holes. i like the cleaner look.
