Default fidanza alum. fly and McLeod clutch etc...

I just received my new McLeod clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bushing in the mail yesterday!! I ordered a Fidanza aluminum flywheel and should have it by Monday. If the Fidanza flywheel worked the way it did onmy '03 mach 1, then i would be VERY happy!!!

Has anyone gone with this set up? I know i need more gear and more power to make the flywheel work BUT i wanna do things right the first time so thats why i decided to buy all the good stuff now...In january i will be putting in a 9 inch currie...i really hope this set up works out...i will let ya know next week...i am putting the parts on Tuesday...

I'm running a McLeod unit for my full hydraulic clutch setup, no problems. Came with a Wilwood m/c, and it's prolly the most trouble free component on the car.

sounds good man..how much power are you pushing in your stang? What tires and whhel combo in the rear for the track? After the 9 inch goes in, i wanna do a cam and head swap...nothing to aggressive...wanna get about 300 rwhp...my ex '03 mach 1 had 313 rwhp and went 11.93 @ 114 mph on motor!!!

So you are right in your sig...power doesnt matter...its what you can do with it!!!

You do realize the aluminum flywheel isn't designed for drag racing? If a low ET is your primary goal, stick with a steel flywheel for the extra inertia. Aluminum flywheels are good for road racing to allow the engine to spin upand downfaster for quicker shifts.

The aluminumcan help in a drag car if you can shift rapidly, but it also comes down to how you launch as well, it may hurt you by not having enough intertia when you launch, and it'll try to bog, or even stall.

As far as me, the tires were BFG g-force sports at 40psi. I've got around 310-320 at the wheels, but it's a full street car. If you trapped 114 with only around 313rwhp, then you either had a bunch of weight reduction or more than 313rwhp.

may I ask why you went with a fidanza flywheel instead of just using the Mcleod one?, Mcleod does make great stuff.

McLeod is about $200 more for one...I also had great results with the fidanza on my 03 Mach1

The aluminum flywheel WITHOUT a doubt will help a car down the 1/4 mile...i was told by many that i would bog due to not having enough power...noe if you have enough gear and enough power, with an aggressive launch then it will definatley help!!

My car weighed in at 3240lbs with me in it...it dynoed 313 rwhp...i had 4.56 gears, 26x10 drags, front runners, and a 6000 rpm launch....1.56 60 ft

less weight means less rotating mass...quicker revving...just need more gear and power to make it work
