Default $4000 paint job

So I have been working side by side with a great mustang body shop called Crook Brothers here in southern california. I have had the car there for a year and some change and now its time to paint my baby. They quoted me $4000 for a basecoast clearcoat and I have many options for my paint scheme. I might go with a bmw, porsche, or lotus color but my main concern is if the price is right. is $4000 a good price for this kind of work? I have seen their work and i must say it is top notch, they have over 25 mustangs they are currently working on and have just finished two shelby gts. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

Nader

sounds like they have a good reputation with the mustang community

4,000 doesnt sound to bad for a good base/clear coat paint job

Well if it makes you feel better, Crooks Brothers is a good shop, Mustang Country gets a lot of their restoration cars painted by them I believe. 4000 sounds great depending on how much body work was needed. My mach 1 is a lot more.. but thats because I needed floor pans, new door skin, and a patch in every corner and other places. So as long as not much welding and all that is need, 4000 sounds about right.

Oh and my car is at McMillens paint and body off artesia blvd here in lakewood/long beach. I've heard great things about crooks brothers though so I'm sure you'll be satisfied no matter what.

the $4000 does not include any body work, they have already done it and i had to replace almost every panel. this $4000 includes block sanding paint and clear coat.

That sounds like a good price. Mine was a lot more, but that included body work. It's hard to put a price on a job that your happy with. You hear a lot of horror stories from guys that got a "deal" and and in the end cost them more to get it done right......
And don't forget to post pics....before and after....

a friend of mine had his painted a solid color/clearcoat for about 3000 at the local miracle paint place, so 4000 for a nice place seems fair.

Is this for a show quality paint job? FWIW, I had my car blasted, primed, body work and sprayed with base/clear PPG for about $500 more than your paint (total was about $4500-4600 IIRC). They removed the doors, painted the jambs, etc. and it came out great. They hung the doors and all the panels, but I did the rest of the assembly myself. FWIW, my car had zero rust and only small dings and bruises that you'd expect on a car its age. The work was done in Long Beach/Paramount at a place that specializes in collision repair for Toyota but took on the job because business has been slow (no rain, no crashes)

$4000 sounds great!!! Especially if its from a reputable shop. Im not that far on my Mustang yet, But when I did my Vette, I did a Greenwood 8 piece body kit, Silver Base Coat, House of Kolors Candy Burgandy, and LOTS of Clear Coat. When all was said and done, the shop charged me just over $10,000 forpaint, materials and labor(the body kit was purchased seperate). IMO, if you're happy with the end result, it was worth it.
