I have a 1968 Mustang Fastback GT. I have been reading on numerous sites that the GT designationis nowhere to be found on theVIN number, data plates, build tag etc. Does anyone know if this is true or do some of them have the GT designation on the above plates, tags etc.? Thanks

Nope, you'll need to get yourself a Marti Report to know for sure. Kevin Marti has all of the original Ford documentation for 67-73 and can tell you exactly what options your car came with.

I thought that was case, but my Build Tag has the GT designation stamped on it. Now, I'm wondering why mine has it stamped"GT"when it is not something that is not normally designated on any of the plates, tags etc.Why does mine have it????? I've included pic of the tag on the passenger front fender jam.

The car has the J code engine which is the NON-boss 302-4V. Hope this helps, I would still pull a Marti.
