mechanical speedometer to aftermarket help
hey everyone.
im thinking about changing my dash to aftermarket gauges. if i do i want to go to electrical ones, not mechanical. however how do you convert the stock mechanical speedometer with gear driven wire to an electrical one. is it hard, whats involved. also does anyone have any recommendations for a full set of gauges including tach, speedometer, gas, volt, oil pressure etc. thats sold together as a set.

RE: mechanical speedometer to aftermarket help
Dakota Digital makes a kit that's quite affordable considering it completely replaces everything. Digital speedo, tach, volt, temp, oil pressure fuel blah blah. I think the mechanical speedo cable just screws into it and it converts the revolutions into digital output. You can calibrate the speedo as well, so it's spot on. I emailed them once and the whole setup hardly draws any amperage too. Basically you unhook everything from the current dash, pull it out and drop their's in, hook everything up, plus their's has a little computer that regulates everything. You can prolly get the instructions from their site, but it seems pretty straight forward.
