Default 6cyl upgtrade-->9" rear. will I need a different driveshaft ?

Hi all,

I have the rear from a 6banger. it's gonna be upgraded to 9" rear. will I need a different driveshaft for that ?
And yes, where would I get one that fits ?

gearbox is 3spd manual

Thanks for any reply

You shouldnt maybe change the u joint to one with a different size so it matchs the 9 inch.If you have to have one made look in your phone book or ask any real racer who makes there.

i just heard that I'd get a slip yoke with the rearend. so that changes the question to will that fit to the driveshaft that I have ....
I'mn nearly convinded there is no telling until I have that in my hand ....

phonebook is not much of an option as there is noone in Ireland who knows about those cars
anyone any experience with this ?
did anyone ever try to throw a quick performance axle (9") that should fit with no prpoblems to 8" 9" ford driveshaft into a car that still has the 6cylinder driveshaft ?
i guess they should be different as the 6cyl rear is integral and the 8" 9" are pumpkin

at the same time, will a driveshaft for a 8" mustang (if I have to get one) fit on the 3speed tranny that came with the 6cyl cars ?
