Default 1/4 or 5/16 PS hose fitting - How to tell??

I have a 67 289 coupe. How can I tell what size high pressure hose to order? My choice is 1/4 inch or 5/16. The high pressure line diameter at the steering valve is about 5/16. The OD of the threads where it goes into the valve is about .6 across the threads (measured on the car with a set of calipers). What size do I have????? This is the hose with steel line at the power steering pump and steel line at the control valve end.

Go out to the car with a 1/2" and 7/16" open end wrenches.

If the 7/16" wrench goes on the fitting, you have a 1/4" valve housing. If the 1/2" wrench goes on the fitting, you have a 5/16" housing.

early build '67 used the 1/4" line, then switched to the 5/16" later in the year. Don't mean to sound smarty, but the 1/4" is smaller than the 5/16", all you have to do is look at it where it goes into the contol valve.
