Accurate oil pressure gauge mustang dash
#2
Can be done, I think it takes some cutting to the back of the dash as there is plastic in the way for a non original gauge (they're not round) and you need to measure to see if 2 1/16" or 2 5/8" will be closer to the size you need.
I installed a Sun Tach in a 5sp blazer years ago, cut the bezel off the gauge, removed the glass and flush mounted the gauge into the dash cluster from behind so the cluster hole was smaller than the gauge face. Looked almost stock. Might be an idea to look at. I've also seen people mount them from the front and leave the gauge intact, then made a bracket to pull it against the cluster face from behind.

The VDO gauge has 2 screws on the face. I'm thinking I will have to drill 2 holes in OEM face for the 2 VDO screws. Not a fan of drilling in OEM but I do have a spare OEM gauge face plate.
I will try your idea of securing from behind first.
Possibly only 20psi to 60psi lettering will be visable. I can live w/ that.

Just looked at your second pic, didn't realize the stock oil pressure gauge comes out by itself leaving the face. If I'm looking at it correctly your VDO 20-60 is going to be upside down?
Edit, nevermind, guess it will be right side up, hard to wrap my head aroud it with the pic of the original face upside down in the pic and the VDO gauge right side up....
