Paint Removal

RE: Paint Removal
take note if u prime and get that stripper on it it must be completely removed as the primer will be contaminated so id do all the parts individually ex try the stripper on a hood( i wouldnt use it on the underside) if it get in the cracks it can come back out later and cause paint problems so i recommend power sanding, then do the actuall stiripping of the roof and rear quarters all at once.

RE: Paint Removal
I used a 4 1/2" angle grinder with Gator Grit paint stripping and cleaningpads from Lowes. They are like scotchbrite and really take the paint off and leave a nice slightly rough surface for epoxy primer to stick to (and don't burn or grind the metal like sanding discs can). They are about $9 for 2 pads and that will easily take the paint off a roof. I used a twisted wire wheel on the angle grinder to get into the tight areas like the door jams. Works very well and no problems with stripper getting into seams and bubbling out under the new paint. Be sure to wear a face shield, especially with the wire wheel. Little 1/8" long metal wires fly off at supersonic speed and get embedded in your skin. (Had one come out after a week under my skin once.) The fun of auto restoration.
