Default Defroster Hose

Hi, I just finished refurbishing my heater in my 1965 Mustang. Thanks to this forum and the search feature, I think I did a good job of it. I replaced the motor blower and resealed the heater box. It has been a bit tricky for me, but, I did it! Anyway, to complete the job, I need to replace the two defrost hoses. My question: I have not tried it yet, but, is there a special tecnique of attachting the top end to the bottom of the dash. It looks like with some twisting, it can be done without taking the entire car apart. I appreciate any quideance. This forum has been great in helping me work on my Mustang. Thanks. Hmmmm, just helped a guy yesterday on attaching his ducts to the plenum. Originally they were attached by staples. I don't know what kind or how it got into the plenum but they did it. I am assuming you got new ducts and heater plenum???. On my 67, I pulled the defrost duct horns from the dash and attached the ducts outside the car. I just slid the new ducts over the original duct horns. I then attached the horns back to the dash and fed the ducts behind the cables and attached to the new plenum. Very simple. I used no staples or ties, just slipped the duct over the tubes a good 3-4 inches. It has held so far.

FROM ORIGINAL POST:

Actually, I need help with the hose attachment to the vent in the dase, not the plenum (sp). The new hose has an angled lip that I guess should fit between the two metal portions of the dash (vent). I looks like a small slit in the dash is there for reconnecting this part of the defroster hose to the dash vent. I'm I making any sense?

No but here it goes anyway. There should be two defroster vent horns as I call them attached/bolted to the dash. The ducts from the plenum connect here. The bestway is to unbolt the defrost vents and slide the hose on the vent horns then bolt them back. Now that I think about it, your defrost vents maybe attached already. If so then just bolt them to the dash.

I think the ducts are attached in the center dash speaker hole with clips, not bolts. At least that's how my '66 is. I think the correct way to do it is to attach the hose to the duct, slip the entire assembly down thru the holes in the dash, then connect to the plenum.
