I bought a 97 351 out of a f250 truck with low miles formy 69 fastback. I was looking for a cam for it but when at comp cams web site they didn't list any for 97 only 69-95 years. What is the difference in the 95 to 97 year? Is it because 97 is a roller cam? Would I be better looking for a 5.0 roller cam? My other option is to call compcams and have them make a custom grind.

97 is when they changed the body style and went to the mod motor look at a 95 or 96.

if you have a roller 351, ANY roller 5.0 cam will work perfectly and shares the same firing order.

I didn't think the 351w went past 1995...

1997 was the last year for the 351W.

As 77 said, just look for a roller 5.0L or 5.8L cam and it will work for you engine.
