i'm stumped about a couple features on my '68 289. they seem to be from a different year. i can't find other examples of them anywhere, online or otherwise. the previous owner was no help:

1. the horizontal grill bar, which crosses from left to right through the center and has the GT lamps mounted on it (I've only seen 67's with this feature)

2. the hub caps - aftermarket? 67's?

all the other options seem to fit, including the blinker hood.

wondering if anyone has seen these 2 features on a 68 or if they were strap-on's by a previous owner?

thanks for any help - i'm about to sell the car and have always wondered about this little mystery.

It's no real mystery... No, your car didn't come with these goodies from the factory. Someone just added a '67 horse and foglight set-up. The wheels are 1965 deluxe Ford wheels (not hubcaps and not aftermarket). They're most often referred to as "Styled Steel Wheels." Look in any Mustang magazine or parts catalog and you'll see reproductions for sale. No, they're not correct for your particular year car; but that doesn't stop them from looking good!
