Title for 1967 Mustang
Did the 1967 mustangs have titles? I'm going to get a tag for my '67, but my parents don't remember getting a title whenever they bought it? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,

When did they buy it? Did they have plates and registration for it? If it was financed did the bank/finance company release the title when the loan was paid? Wouldn't be the first time a title held for security did not get returned to owner.

Certain states do not have titles before a certain year. With those states you just sign over the registration or authorized bill of sale.
I am not sure which states they are, but there are several. Check your local DMV.

I'm sureit was true for North Carolina and maybe some of the other Southern States. Not sure about Georgia, but I would almost bet it didn't have a State issued title in the 60's. Talk to the local DMV. Youmay have to let them sell the car (bill of sale that includes the VIN, model, make) to you for a few dollars. They will probably have a minimum for a title fee but a title will be issued.

I see you're in Alabama. I just titled a 66 here. All you need is a bill of sale with at least two witnesses or a notary and you're golden for anythingover 1975. Make sure you mention that the car is over 75. The lady I spoke to at the DMV made me drive in the car so they could check the vin and then said 'oops, my mistake' when she saw it was a 66.
