Default Stud or Pedestal?

Which is better when talking about roller rockers for a 351c 4V? Whats the difference between them technically?

studs FTW

they are stronger, and are adjustable

You don't need to go with studs unless you start running really high rpm/spring pressures, pedestals actually do really well. If you're changing over though, you might as well go with stud, just for the greater flexibility they offer.

Do you have to do any machining for studs to fit?

not if you get studs that screw into the place where the pedestal style rockers used to bolt down. otherwise you would need machine work to make it happen.

and rmodel, there are no much thing as non-adjustable studs for roller rockers - which is what he asked about

Go with a shaft kit for ultimate strength. Machining required.

I prefer studs over pedastals, though.

Shaft is totally badass though, ultimate valetrain stability. I have pedestal on my 302, and they do fine in street applications, but I wouldn't feel comfortable turning 7,000rpm with them routinely. And the adjustability of stud makes them far more flexible across varrying applications. I just went with pedestal cuz that's what it had and I didn't wanna buy all new rocker setup etc.

I like the shaft setup overall. They can be a pain to assembly, but they work great on my 390.[8D](stock setup on FE is the shaft rocker arms, for those not in the know)
