Special Paint - Marti doesn't know
I am trying to figure out the original paint color of my 67 convertible. It is a special paint color of mx707908. It has been repainted. Scaping some new paint off, it looks like playboy pink. I foundanother car online that was playboy pink (mx707939). Please help.
My buck tag reads as follows:
26 M17 7T03A158789
76A SP.PAINT 2U
TOP-2 CLEAR
MX707908
My door tag reads as follows:
76A U 3H 7014 1 1

2U, I believe its called"Passionate Pink". It will show itself when you sand. Also 2U may bethe interior trim package, Parchment Pastel. I will try to research a little more as my books so far don't have much info other that pictures of the color.

"SP PAINT" indicates a special paint order, and MX 707908 meant the car was originally sprayed with Playboy Pink

I think the data plate wasactually left blank on special order paint colors, I would do a "Marti Report" and get the nitty gritty. They can tell you how many units were built with the options unique to your car. I am on my 3rd cup o coffee and will wake up in another few minutes. Anyway, do the Marti and let us know.

Thanks for the replys. I appreciate all the info I can get on this - cause it it driving me crazy.
I ordered a build sheet from Ford. Here is what they said:
Bucket seat Parchment w/ Black Components in color
Black power convertible top w/ glass backlite
Three speed manual transmission
Non-locking rear axle
735 x 14-4 PR White Sidewall Tires
Rocker Panel molding
AM Radio
Wheel covers
No mention of paint from Ford
I am trying to get a Marti report for it. However, being a special paint. They want to know the original color. They asked that I send them a paint chip.
The guy that restored the car did a great job covering up all original paint. That is why I am struggling.

It mentions a paint code of MX707939 ford pink.
Looking at my buck tag has MX707908. I thought this number might tell me definitely the color.
