Default C-4 Linkage ?s

I have a '66 that I'm switching from I6 to V8. I have a freshly rebuilt C-4 to go in.

The linkages between the 2 are very different. Also, the one from my '66 only has PRNDL whereas the new C-4 has PRND21, an extra detent position.

My question is can I/should I swap the linkages? Will the old linkage work with a transmission with different detents?

Any help appreciated!

I think you will find you have to buy the linkage rod and slector assembly. When I changed my 65over I bought an entire auto selector shift assembly off e-bay (my car was a rolling shell)and then bought a selector rod from Laurel Mountain and it all fit perfectly. For the kick down cable I fitted a Lokar cable to the carby. I hope that helps

I went ahead and did it anyway, seems to be fine but I won't know for sure until I get it on the road.
