Factory console

Factory console
I'm getting ready to pull the Indy style Hurst shifter from my '66, and plan on installing a factory console. I have the console and a Hurst Comp. Plus shifter with hardware. My questions have to do with the boot setup for the shifter. Does the boot attach to the floor? Is there any kind of seal between the boot and the console? Which boot should I use with the Hurst?
I've seen exploded drawings but they don't give any real detail.
(I like the short throw of the Indy shifter and the side location, but I have to lean forward to hit first and third. Screw that.)
Thanks a pant load.

RE: Factory console
on my 66 before I converted it to a t-5 I had a BW t-10 and the shifter boot was attached to the floor with a plate that is tack welded there and the shifter boot bolted to that..but when I installed a t-5 that plate had to be removed as a t-5 is up and to the right a little making complete shifts a little tough without performing the mod

RE: Factory console
I have a 66 with a Hurst Comp Shifter, OEM console, and the OEM style shifter boot. The round hole of the original shifter boot molds to the rectangular Hurst shifter handle. It looks good and snug.
The stock shifter boot bolts down to the floor with 4 screws. The floor has the bolts in place. No the boot does not connect to the console.
I attached a pictures of another car with the Hurst Competition shifter.
