66 engine mounts
Hey guys, been a while since I've posted. Hope everyone's doing good in here. Some of you know I sold my 69, but I still have my knowledge, so a friend called on me to help with some basic maintenance on his 66 vert with a 289.
so our day started with just a plan to replace the battery and get the car running. put the battery in a viola, the car starts, i know, whoopdy do. so next the car starts to have some idle issues so I pull out the falt head screwdriver and make a couple quick adjustments till its smoothed out running right again. after a few quick revs and some nasty black spots on the driveway below the exhaust, we notice the engine seems to be tilted. It was very slight at first so I figured it was my imagination. After a drive around the block, we proved it was actually tilted. The infamous throttly sticking problem caught us. About 500 ft down the road the thottle got stuck and we had to drop it into Neutral and coast back bumping in and out of D. So I peeked under the car and could see a good inch or so between where the engine mount used to be, and where it now sat. Just ordered a replacement set from the guys over at NPD.
I haven't had to replace mounts that are still on the car, any easy way to do this without pulling the whole engine out, like can I just lift it a few inches with the engine hoist? Thanks for the input guys.

RE: 66 engine mounts
You should be able to loosen the other mount and the tranny bolts and lift the engine enough to get to them,I've done it a couple times without pulling the motor, its pretty easy especially for someone who knows anything at all about mechanical things! Good Luck with It!! and happy holidays![8D]
