$400 to blast my "65
So here's the deal. I just got a set of wheels for another car powdercoated. while I was picking the wheels up, I noticed someone sand blasting an engine block. I asked the owner if they do unibodies and chassis'. He told me he could do my car for $400 as longI did the disassembly work, Nointerior, glass, engine, tranny or front clip. Just front suspension, rear axle, empty doors and trunk lid. I told him that there are 3 different colors under the current one and the rear quarters are basically mud. "NO PROBLEM" I thought it sounded like a HELUVA deal. But i justed wanted to run it by the forum. Thanks

$400 is a low price IMO and not something I would touch without looking at a car they had done previously.
Plasting wheels is VERY different than blasting a car.

The question is, how do you know if they will do it right? If they screw it up you will spend forever trying to get the car straight and it will have a ton of bondo when you are done. I say chemically strip the big areas. It is easy and fast to do. Then you don't have to worry about it.

The car's been rear endedbefore so I have to get it straightened anywayand Im replacing theTrunk Floorand Both rear quarters. My only question is, After I get the car down to metal, Do I have it straightened first, then replace sheetmetal? Or cut off all the bad sheetmetal, then have it straightened, then put new sheetmetal in? Probably a dumb question, sorry.
And I think he knows what he's doing, because he went on and on about the mix of blasting material as to not warp any metal. Plus he spotted everything wrong with my Mustang's body in about 30 seconds!!! When Ive had it into aFEW bodyshops to get a compiled list.
