Intake manifold/Carb question
I have a stock 289 2v and was looking to upgrade-what do you guys think of a Holley street advenger carb 570 cfm and a with a edelbrock preformance intake?
Any suggestions?
I would later like to change the heads and cam and add headers
I just need a game plan-would hate to buy the wrong parts. ThanksScott

RE: Intake manifold/Carb question
if your going to add heads/cam/headers then get an rpm or stealth intake and I would recommend a road demon 525 annular for torque or road demon 625 or if cam will be over 220 @050 a speed demon 575-650, demons flow about 60-80 more cfm than there rating. I have a friend with a 289, erson cam 214 478 @050 try y headers and 351w heads with 194 160 valves, started with a holley 600 and performer, we bolted on my 625 road demon way better from idle up, we changed to an rpm int even more low end to top and much smoother, we tried my 650 speed demon and he didnt want to give it back it had better throttle reponse, smoothness and power than all of them.

sixtysix, i have a holley 570 (ford kickdown linkage, electric choke) that has literally less than 20 miles on it - i am going to go to a proform (race) carb..... PM me and maybe we can work out a deal for you and save ya a few bucks

RE: Intake manifold/Carb question
The Weiand 8124 will go out past 6,000rpm without trouble, so you don't need a bigger intake unless you plan on going with large heads/cam. 570 Holley is nice, other carbs have more tunability, which is moot if you don't understand how air bleeds operate.
Summit/Jegs are great places to get stuff.

RE: Intake manifold/Carb question
i'd have to say the *only* thing i don't like about the 570 is that it doesn't have adjustable air bleeds - then again, 98% of carbs out there don't have adjustable airbleeds either.
its exactly why im going to a 600-650 proform so i can tune every aspect of it and finally dial things in properly. really long duration cam with an automatic = PITA to tune
