Default Removing Pedal Assembly

I am removing my automatic transmission brake pedal assembly to swap it out for a manaul transmission brake pedal assembly.

Do I have to the remove the steering column to get out the pedal assembly?

No, you can remove it without touching the steering column. IIRC, you may have to remove the driver's side fresh air vent to get enough room, but I may have had to do that for other reasons. While you have the pedal mount out, I'd convert to roller bearings.

Good luck!

Jeff's right...you can leave the steering column alone...

I just remembered why I had to remove the air vent. I have a Mustang Steve cable clutch with a quadrant welded to the top of the pedal so I needed the extra room. I *think* you can just remove the retainting pin on the right side of the support and slide out the shaft and then slide in the new pedals with everything else still bolted in.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I was thinking about my project and I plan on painting the interior black, so I might as well remove the column.

I read that I have to take off the steering wheel to get the column off, after that the cover just slides off, right?

You also have to remove the two retaining nuts and bracket below the dash as well as unclip the wiring harness. After that, I will slide right out.
