Default Can't decide what heads to wear!

Building a 95 5.0for a 66 FB, stock GT cam, weiand intake, holley carb. Thinking about GT40P heads! Found used ones, lot cheaper than new and won't have to change anything else, right? [going to have them redone] I will get more power than stock heads? T-5 w/3:50 9" rearend.

you could talk to the guys it the 5.0 forums for the engine building. from what i've read not personal experience even though I own a 95 gt is that the gt40 heads flow quite well and are a common change.

Thanks for responding, I was starting to feel like and red-headed stepchild. Good luck with the coupe, all it takes is patience, time and money.

The P heads require different headers, and spark plugs are a pain to change, but any of the GT40 heads outflow the stockers.

there is a place to grab a set of P's done up with stiffer springs and bigger valves for like 600 or 700 bucks i think its called tristatecylinderheads.com, and you can get patriot aluminum heads for about 900 bucks from one of the vendors here.

The plug changes aren't that bad if you use a box end wrench on the spark plug socket. You only need to use that method on several. They do use the small plugs on a different angle so the Ford Motor Sport shorty headers will work. It's also best to get wires that have the adjustable angled boots so the headers don't burn them. Have the heads upgraded to 3/8" srew in studs and use guide plates. It's best to do this now rather than wish you had done it later. Get some good roller rockers as well. You'll thank yourself later. Good luck and keep us posted.

Heads will make or break an engine.
