yeah that seems a little weird they would make a "66" brake kit when you would need spindles from a newer stang. i mean, its only the spindle, bearings, rotor, and caliper to put it together pretty much. just find a rotor that would fit a 66 spindle.
it is the caliper mounting bracket that requiers the newer spindle

well since youre car was already a gt/disk brake car, you might not need the machining.

yea, but look at the caliper mounting brackets, none of those holes look like they will line up with the 4 holes on the spindles,...and if you rear i directions, it says disk brake spindles use 3 holes,...the new spindles are the ones that have the 3 holes in a triangular pattern....
