351w intakes

RE: 351w intakes
Here is a little trick I learned recently. With the air cleaner on, put a ball of tin foil or playdough on top of it and close the hood. When you open the hood it will have flattened the ball giving you something to measure to see how much clearance you have. Find out the height difference in the manifolds to what you are running now and you will see what you need to do. I think that you would be hard pressed to get either manifold in there, especially the air gap. It is going to take a lot of playing with air cleaner housings and carb spacers to be able to useeither one of those. Dont plan on running a stock air cleaner.

I use the play dough/ plumbers putty method, the rpm and stealth, PP typhoon (stealth copy) and torker 2 fit no problem, the air gap is a close call you may get 1/4" hood clearance playing with it if at all. I can tell you that the difference in power between the rpm and rpm air gap is so small you would not even be able to feel it and once the engine is up to temp there is no difference in peak power.

It will fit,,, at least it fit for us in a 66with a 351 which is taller than 289/302.
We needed a low pro air cleaner and no room for a carb spacer, but it is comfortably (albeit very close) under the stock hood.
I say with a 289/302 no sweat.
