Default From 289cid to a 5.0

I found a great deal on a foxbody with a 5.0 in it. I want to pull the engine and drop it into my 289cid67 coupe. If i am corect its the same block? that means I dont have to change engine mounts or anything right? Also I might just switch the top end to a carb intake and a carb to save me wiring hassels. let me kno opinions and whats what. thanks

pull the 289 presurve it drop the 5.0 in beat it to hell and back and later after you kill the 5.0 or want to sell or what ever drop the 289 back in.

That said the only difference you would have to worry about is the flexplate or flywheel the 289 is a 28oz embalance and the 5.0 is a 50oz embalance.

if you want to keep the 5.0, do it, you can make real power with them.

or you could do like me, use the newer, better, roller, one piece rear main seal 5.0 block and stuff your 289 rotating assembly in it. the best of both worlds FTMFW

well what about this. can i just put on my 289 intake and carb on top of the 5.0 to make it a 302 or are the heads no compatible for the 302. I dont wanna put miles on the original 289 there isnt even 60K on it yet. and u guys are talkin about flex plates and flywheels but i wanna keep the trans thats atatched to the 5.0 aswell.

that will work 289 and 302/5.0 use all the same bolt on parts 289 just has less stroke. you didn't mention the trans before Thats why I pointed out the differance in flywheels.
