RE: Little confused on the wiring, need some help
Thanks 67evileleanor, I will be sure to check to see how much it's pulling. JMD, I think that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tip!

67 Evil, Thanks for your reply, i think were saying the same thing.
Savior, be sure to fuse your power leads reagrdless of the source.
JMD thanks for the tip on the middle terminal,I knew 12v was there, just not exactly where on the switch.

RE: Little confused on the wiring, need some help
On a car stereo, the 12V constant supply on the stereo will be the one pulling all the load. The switched 12v is low current just to tell the radio that the car is on. You could splice into any switched 12V source for the switched wire to the radio, and run a separate wire of the correct gauge from the radio through the firewall right to the battery for the 12v constant supply. Match the gauge of the wire that is on the radio or go to the next larger gauge.

JMD is right, any stereo store would have them, and i'm sure an installer would give you a couple. A large auto part store like Pep Boys might in their car audio section.

thanks JMD and noroof66! Funny thing is my fuse panel already has one in it on the assy(sp) fuse. I have no idea what it's for or if it's still hooked up to any thing. The wire and the tap look really old.
