RE: heater hose intake location ?
Got mine at Home Depot last weekend for $2 - get the NPT bushing -- screw the Scott Drake $16 fitting into a bushing and call it a day (I looked all over for this thing and finally did what I should have in the beginning).

well i took some photos of where the elbow can fit. so will it work where its at in these photos and which one is the better spot for it
also, my heater will not be hooked up for a while so im going to be using the infamous mustang loop.

can't remember what size the bushing was - I want to say 1/2" to 3/8" but can't be sure - I took the elbow with me and screwed it on in HD. I have an Edelbrock intake - both front holes are coolant so you can run the heater to one (on the left in the photo above) or go to the right which would have the hose running straight down the intake from the heater holes so easier (most I have seen have the temp sensor on the left)

I would do it the other way around. You don't want to drag the heater hose all the way across the engine like that, it's messy and tacky. Plus, the wiring harness that includes the temp sender wire is on the driver's side of the engine.
Catchis, you needto pick up the tall heater fitting; the short one won't clear the intake runner. You can probably get this fitting from most Mustang wherehouses (Napa doesn't have it, I tried to find one for a customer today), but I know Glazier's has them as that's where I bought mine.
After you get that fitting, go get a brass bushing and slap it in the hole behind the t-stat housing. And yes, I it is1/2" to 3/8" pipe.
