the duties apply depending on the price, so if it was restored in the states, then that would account for it.

restoration costs, particularly for mustang specific parts that have to come from the US, are a killer. Exchange rate and freight add heaps. Basically take your price and times it by 3 for a local price.

Local Ford and GM products have skyrocketed in value for late 60s and early 70's cars. Mustangs have fallen behind so are now relatively cheap.

Fastbacks here have always attracted a premium, so a really good properly restored one is worth Aus $45 or so. A factory GT usually adds another $10k but as we agree a genuine factory car is difficult to confirm.

This guy just seems to be wanting a super premium for what might be a fake or might be a really rare car - a factory 3 speed GT?!?!?!

I believe that the 65 GTs all have the 66 dash which this car has and they came with either a 4 speed manual or auto not a 3 speed manual. However you could order the car with anything you wanted so its really hard to say.I decoded it and it came up exactly as BA Mustang stated!! Nice car but I think I would rather ride a Kangaroo for that price!!!

no rally pack, pony interior, 4 speed....I know some of these might of been options but it makes this car highly suspect. I swore I read somewhere that all gts came with power steering or something also.
GT's did not necessarily come with power steering, butall did have the close ratio steering box.

From "Mustang Does It" by Ray Miller - 1978

All regular production options are available with the GT Equipment Group except the following: Back-up Lamps, Rocker Panel Moulding, Power Brakes, Accent Group, and Options not available with theHigh Performance Engine. Rear Bumper Guards are not include on GT Equipment Group Vehicles, nor is the Rocker Panel Moulding on Model 63A. Full width Seat with Center Armrest is not available with Interior Decor, GT Equipment Group, or Console Options.

So, so far (although i dont kno why you would want it) theoretically a 3 sp manual could have been ordered with a factory GT is what i am seeing..
