Default proof positive that any idiot can take something apart

Now when I say idiot I only mean my self and am no way putting down any one else who takes something apart
Well this WAS a T5

This is my first transmission rebuild, and what a fun project this has been!! I was able to tare it down in a couple of hours. Looks like all it needs (aside from a rebuild kit) is a new 2nd gear and a 1st-2nd slider. I could not have mustered up the courage to do this if it had not been for a transmission rebuilder friend of mine and two different how-to videos I purchased. It is a lot easier to take the plunge when you know advise is just a phone call or email away.

About taking things apart and putting them back together...When I was 15 my mother complained that her washing machine vibrated. Not knowing anything about washing machines, I took the whole thing apart...every last nut and bolt...and then put it back together. I had a complex looking part left over which I could not identify (some sort of bracket with teeth on it)so I hid it from her and my father. The damn washing machine worked 20 more years without any vibration. They thought I was a genius. That strategy probably will not work on your transmission. Good Luck.

Haha, when I was little I would take apart EVERYTHING that my parents threw away that was cool. Phones, toasters, etc. Its really easy to take stuff apart, its putting them back together that is the hard part!

Ya, I could of taken that apart too! Like you say, any idiot. The question is can you put it back together and how many pieces will still be laying on the bench.Remember, if you get mad and throw something, you are just going to have to go find.
Good luck and keep us posted!

don't sweat it, Daze

In fact, you have just found a way to make that object more efficient."

My Grandfather helped me rebuild the 2.77 three speed in my '65 coupe when I was 16.
That was back when you had to go the city library to get the Ford shop manuals.
After we replaced the broken gears and put it back together I drove the car from Seattle to Arkansas.

Grandpa drove trucks on the Ledo Road and taught me everything good I know about fixing cars.
I miss him.

Taking things apart was easy. The fact that I always had peices left over and that whatever I took apart never worked right again is a different story.
