Default 1/8 mile times from racing last night

Took the car to the drags last night. My best time was 8.513@83.17mph. Can anyone with experience comment on this time and give me a rough guess what it would do in the quarter?

Mid-low13's give or take. It depends on gearing and how much top end you have.

The engine is a 347 backed by a T5. 3.50 rears with a Currie TSD. The engine spins pretty strong up to about 6800rpm. Last night I was running though the traps in 3 gear at about 5000rpm. I would be happy with 13's. I just wish there was 1/4 mile track I could run out here.

The first time I had my 65 out to the track I had some dialing in and practice to do.
Looking back at some of my old time slips:

With your MPH in the 1/8 you should be able to be knocking on 12.99's door since with a slightly lower MPH I was in the 13.0 as long as you don't run out of RPM or steam when you do the full 1/4. What are all the numbers from your runs...you might be giving up too much in the 60' and with the stick it is sometimes hard to launch the way you want...

Most passes were right around 2 seconds at 60ft. Best was 1.97. Your post is a big help. I can really see the relationship between 1/8th and 1/4. thanks

You have almost an identical 1/8 et and mph as I do, and I went low 13's with a weak tune and poor gearing. If your engine pulls well into the upper 6k rpm range and you get adecent 60', with the 3.50's high 12's is doable on street tires. At the very least it should go consistant low 13's.

I was running slicks last night. It was a bit scary. I don't have a lot of miles on the car and was afaid the slicks would help me find the weak point in the drive train. Everything held together good. I made 10 really hard passes.

I did find out that doing a burn out with a 5 speed sucks. I was heel toeing the gas and brake with my right foot. A line lock would make things much easier.

Slicks with a T5 and a 347? Is it stock? If so, you're a brave, brave man...

Yeah, a stock T5 isn't gonna like launching on slicks for very long.
