My car wouldn't start either. I knew it wasn't an electrical issue because the aftermarket tach wired to the coil jumped to 50 rpm when it turned over ($26 well spent). With the aircleaner off I checked the carb to see if it was getting gas when I pumped it. None. The overtravel spring barely moved the accelerator pump bracket when I pumped it. I moved the lever further by handand had gas leak out the pump gasket, but none in the carb. It finally fired up and ran when I poured some gas for the chainsaw into the carb.

Maybe your computer is toast. Did the check engine light come on? Just kidding.

Yourproblem is either no spark or no gas. The no spark is the easiest to check for, so start with that.

a little shot of starting fluid wont hurt anything

just dont stand there and continuously spray it into the engine to keep it running

I did the trick with the Allen key and saw a tiny bit of spark when touching metal... Was I supposed to see a huge arc ?

What color was the spark? Blue/white is good. Orange bad.

It was a yellow/orange - what does that mean?

Also, this is what my carb looks like, something tells me it's not supposed to be that color

What are the causes of weak spark?

I've only checked spark thus far, still need to dump some fuel directly into the carb and see what happens...

It could be several things, points, rotor, etc. What did the electrode look like when you took the plug out? From your original description of problem I would have to say its either the points, coil or Dist Cap/rotor.You said this happened after sitting and then it rained Correct? Have you Dried out the inside of dizzy cap and checked the points to make sure they are working?

You'll have to excuse my ignorance as I am still catching up on "old school" automotive tech and am not sure what the PO did to the vehicle...

There is a Mallory Unilite Ignition Module under the dist. cap - which eliminates the points correct?

I'll pull the plugs now and post some photos...
