Sat for a few months, now won't start - where to begin?
My '69 has been sitting for a couple of months, ran fine when I parked it. Went to start it up today and it just cranks and cranks but won't start.
Where's the first place to begin diagnosis? Cap/rotor/plugs/wires?
Also, it rained for most of the day - and I have noticed it becomes a little "moody" in less-than-ideal weather...
Thanks for any advice!

if it cranks, check for spark...pull one of the wires, put a allen key in the end of it and hold it up to something metal and have someone try and start the car,..see if there is any spark..

I had an issue with my fuel pump. I pulled the line from the pump to carb and had no fuel in it. I pulled the line from the pump that goes to the tank and had gas come out. I was going to put in an electric fuel pump soon anyways this just sped the process up.
Check to see if it wants to fire by putting a little gas or starting fluid down the carb. If it does then it mat be a fuel issue. If not I would check for spark at the plugs.

I'm not sure I would use ether, unless you have a diesel and low compression. Check to see if your points are opening up, getting gas to the carb, juice to the coil or moisture in dist cap.

Does it start if you dump a little gas in the carb? If not check for spark! If it does start when you dump some gas in carb you know its a fuel delivery issue,If it does not it is probably no spark, then check coil and points(If you have Them)!Let us know what happens!Good Luck!!

Check the cap and rotor for moisture evidence. Do you still have points? Ck all the wire connections. Is fuel getting to the carb? Is the fuel filter cloogged? Are the plugs fouled? I'd suspect bad gas only as a last resort unless my fuel filter had a lot of crap in it. Then I'd worry more about the tank itself.
I recently had similar probs with my 69's 302 and it ended up being my ignition switch. But that starting prob began as an intermittent one and drove me nuts for months as it came and went until I finally replaced the switch out of frustration. All is well now.

Oh the car is shot so you better sell it to me. I will have to trash it of course since its obviously no good. LOL Seriously use a bit or starter fluid after you do the trick with the WD40. It probably is a wet distributer or we wire. But starter fluid will start a dead heart so I know it cas start a dead car.
