RE: DOHC in 66
Because the guy does not know what he is talking about when it comes to the Mustang II suspension! It is a great up grade to any early mustang. If it is as big a piece of crap as the guy says it is then Heidt's and all those other companies that make this suspensionwould be out of business from being sued all the time for the cars falling apart!
They call it an up grade for a reason. That old suspension was not all that great. If it was, they would be building kits to put it in other car like they do with the Mustang II.

The reason i say that is a ackerman b it puts all weight on the frame rails when ford designed these cars the firewall was where the went went. And most people that use the mustang 2 kit run a support tube from the front of the frame rail to the firewall like this http://www.martzchassis.net/page3.htm or go for something like this http://www.fatmanfab.com/catalogpage.php?page=22

As for handling, here's a post onanother forumfrom a guy who has a real Mustang II - the car - and gets great handling out ofa modifiedfactory suspension - .99G lateral. http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sho...ight=heidt%27s
As for mod-motor performance, it takes a lot of money and work to get a 289 to perform anywhere near a bone stock 4.6 DOHC (281 ci) motor (even the Mark VIII motors). The Mark VIII motors (285 HP net) make 50% more horsepower than the A-code 289 4V (225 HP gross~ 195 HP net vs 285 HP net for the Mark VIII). With a little tuning and some tweaking, astock01 Cobra N/A motor (maybe with headers)can make 350 HP at the flywheel pretty easily (and a 289 willreally need work and $$$ to see that short of a blower or nitrous.Shelby's modifiedK-codes only made 306 gross~ 260 HP net). It eventakeswork (and $$$)to get 350 HP from a 5.0/302. Sure a 429 will make more power and a 351 can do that too, but neither will get 26 MPG at 70 MPH and idle like a kitten. It's all in the heads (and engine management). But they are expensive to build - I know!

"ozarks06" very well stated, I will follow the link you listed, it seems that the M2's can hang in with best of them. It also seems a little tweaking goes a long way. I was surprised to see them near the 1 G lateral. Thats pretty impressive.

RE: DOHC in 66
Sounds to me that there isn't a problem with installing a MII front clip. I was talking to a buddy today about finding a wrecked Cobra for the donor. I think I might be on to something. Thanks for the information ozarks66 and 67 evil eleanor. You guys have helped me with some decisions. Now I just gotta figure out if it is affordable for my budget. We'll SEE!!!!
