RE: Edelbrock's new heads
haha yeah, if they were given to me, id definatly write up a good review once the car gets on the road. i think im gunna go with 351C heads for my 351W though. there not too bad off ebay and the aftermarket heads are amazing

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
The Pro Port 190's flow as well as the good aftermarket C heads do, unless you get into something bigger. A stroker 351 would benefit well from the Pro Port 190 heads, but would prolly work better with an even larger head than that, like an AFR 205 or 225 etc.

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
im kinda confused.. are the pro port 190's edelbrock or AFR?
sry to hijack this post...i really just need some cheaper heads (stock 351c) because my 351 has the stupid smog heads right now. and once i do convert it to have 351C heads i can get aftermarket 351C's and can really go back to 351W's. i am really not sure though so PLEASE correct me if im wrong so i can make a good head choice

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
The Pro Port 190 are Edelbrock, but AFR's are very good heads, so they're often used as a benchmark for comparison. If you have a 351W then you might as well just put the Pro Port 190's on if you have the money. CHI 185 heads are a Cleveland style head, and CHI makes sets that bolt on to a 351W with a bit of work, but they're more expensive. So basically if you have a 351W use the Pro Port 190's, if you have a 351C use the CHI 185 3V's.

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
That's the order you should do it in anyways. Don't forget about brakes too. Though it may be better to finish engine work before body, so as not to risk damaging the body.

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
yeah, i ment to add the brakes to the list, they might help a little bit. gotta have a car that can handle the engine! thats a good point doin the engine before the body work. thanks!

RE: Edelbrock's new heads
I just looked in greater detail, both of the new heads from Edelbrock use 1.57 exhaust valves, rather than 1.60. Once again proving the point that bigger is not always better. Not THAT big of a difference though, I did that math and a 1.57 valve has 96% the area of a 1.60 valve.
