I'd buy a 650 speed demon vac sec (annular boosters if possible) it will work fine on the stock 289 and when you instthe cam/heads you can tune it to that combo. The stock 2bbl flows about 280 cfm if your lucky.

with the vac sec's and a tighter spring wont over carb a stock 289, a 650 is not too much especially on a dual plane manifold, the engine will only use what it needs in airflow.

stock 2 barrell on a 289 was 300cfm I believe. At least mine is. autolite 2100 1.14 with venturi=300cfm I believe.
But as 67mustang302 pointed out already. you cannot compare those 2 (2bbl/4bbl).

ht, my fairly radical 302 ran better with a 600 on it than it did with a 650 DP or a 650 vacuum secondaries. now, im sure i didnt have them dialed in nearly as good as they should have been, but the point is a 650 is too damn big for a stock or mild 289.

was always thinking about that 570er carb (stock 289), but I have to get the rest of my car right before I do anything on the engine that might improve performance. I'm trying to organise rear axle, discs all around at the moment. as I'll need new wheels and tires at the same time this is killing me ...

thanks. at least i have an idea now. maybe when i put on my 390cfm holley it'll flow a little better than the stock 2 barrel.

You can just buy an adapter, and bolt the 4 bbl on no prblems
