I believe it was around $2200-$2300. Don't quote me on that, though.

ya, i know its somewhere in that range. Does anyone have a 65, 66, 67, or 68 couple with an i6 and no options? Or does anyone know of a dummy VIN I could use. I believe one of the vin decoders online told you the cost after you ran it...

Don't forget, the Mustang of today really is not the same thing as the Mustang of the 60s. A 65 Mustang had tires good for about 10,000 miles, no radio, NO RUST PROOFING, basically a single coat of paint with no clear coat, and was expected to go maybe 100,000 miles at best. Did you notice on my sticker the padded visors were an option? Show me a car today where they are not standard. A lot of people paid companies like Ziebart for aftermarket rust proofing before they ever picked up the car from the dealer.
Today's Mustang not only costs more due to inflation, but also because it is a better car. You'll go 50,000 miles on the tires, rust won't be an issue for years, It will still be running well at 100,000 miles, it has clear coat over the paint, and so on. You have to factor all that into the price. My guess is if Detroit made disposable cars today like they did back then the base price on a new Mustang todaymight be $10,000 or even less.

Cars may have better options today than they used to....however, get in a Civic and let a Ford LTD hit you....tell me which car is damaged more.
