why wont it start

RE: why wont it start
if it ran before, then yes ya. put the old one in and see if that works again.
if it didn't run at all, you need 4 things for an engien to run
- starter
- compression
- spark
- fuel
starter seems ok as engine is turning over.
if you have no compression the giveaway is that the engine sounds dofferent starting. it's making a wheeeeeee instead of a whop whop whop
no spark: there's been a lot of postings to check on that. something along the lines of screw one spark plug out. use an electric plier to hold the thread of the plug to the ground (with plug lead connected to the plug) and have the engine turn over.
You should see the spark flying between the gap of the plug.
no fuel: get rid of air cleaner and look down the carb whil you push down the accelerator (or do that at carb directly with linkage). you should see fuel squirting out.
so what seems wrong ?

Unlees you are talking about one hell of a grade.....
Did you add a "performance" fuel pump? If so your problem is probably too much fuel pressure, Most High performance pumps require pressure regulators...

+1. Your parking angle shouldn't have anything to do with it. Your fuel system is a pressurized system. If your carb is leaking fuel after you take your foot off the gas you have a carburetor issue or your fuel pump is putting out too much psi. Please correct me if I am wrong.
