Default rack and pinion ?'s

Do the manual rack and pinions really "feel like power" like some companies advertise even at low speeds?
Does the TCP rack not lose any turning radius as I saw advertised somewhere or will they all cause a loss of turning radius?
Does anyone have the newer style flaming river rack and pinion and what do you think?
Is there any way to reduce turning radius in our cars? (I have a 66 I6)
Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to figure out which rack will be right for my budget.

This is my 64 1/2 restomod coupe with TCP power rack. the wheels are turned as far as they will go to the driver side. yes i lost quite a bit of turning circle. however the car handles and feels great. cant comment on the other manufacturers but i have heard stay away from flaming river. the TCP rack does sit higher above ground level than most others. its very pricey but i think i made the right choice.

Thanks guys, and wow, yea it does look like you lost some turning radius. I was actually looking into it and may possibly go with a mustang II setup. You can get them for about the same price as a rack and pinion. Jamison, what color blue is that, I want to paint my car something similar.

gaurdsman blue it was a 64 1/2 only color... the mustang 2 is a good street compromise however you can get better handling with other options. the M2 setup is undoable.
once you get used to the turning radius its not so bad... just have to do some planning when your parking. when your taking a 90 corner at a fast speed then its awesome.

I installed the Flaming River manual R&P a couple years back on my fastback and I noticed no appreciable (sp?) loss in turning radius. It does require less force to turn than the old steering box does so that was a nice improvement.

The improvement in drivability is unbelievable! It will have you throwing rocks at your old slop-box setup.

The installation was dead nuts simple once I got all of the right parts. (JBA shorty headers required for perfect fit and zero headache installation, as long as you are running an automatic tranny).

Do you have a standard or automatic transmission?

I have an auto but I also have an I6, but I think that would work just the same with it?
