RE: cigerette lighter kills the dash lits and radio
from your years wiring diagram there's a red wire cmonig through firewall to dash area.
This splits and one wire is going to emergency light flasher, the other to te cigarette lighter.
There's no ground cable on the cigarette lighter so it must get ground over the assembly to dash.
What do you mean with kills dash stuff and radio ? does it come back ? do you have to replace a fuse to fix it.
does it only happen when the cigarette lighter is pressed in. or at any stage ? you'll have to give us more infos ....

happens any time the wire is hooked up to the cigerette lighter period, radio dies, along with the dash lites and blows the fuse,,, if I leave the wire off everything is ok

you got a short there somewhere...is the wire to the lighter good? thats where id be looking
the dash is the earth for the lighter - the metal casing on the metal dash.
