Default 1971-1973 What needs some upgrading???

I just finished the body and paint on my project. Besides the monte bar. what else would be good?? Any parts from current fords or past could be used to achieve some kind of updating??? I used to have a fox,and that car had infinite upgrades from the junk yard. I am looking to do the same with this horse. Anyone has had any experience with???I made sub frame connectors for the car and theyare on the car. That fixed some major sagging and a door problemI had. I am new to the 71-73 Mustangs. Ive sold muscle cars for the past 3 years. From camaros, challengers, chargers, and even a cuda. I decided to keep this Horse; because my father just loves it. He had a Shelby de Mexico in Mexico. He sold it for the down payment ofhis firsthouse back in 1979. The guy who bought it smashed itat the track. So that is why I am here. Thanks

What do you want to upgrade. Engine, suspension, interior, exterior, performance etc?

I have a 72 and so did my dad in highschool and one of the big things he told me to do was convert it to disc brakes, especially if i put any power into because the early 70's mustangs are the heaviest ones (and I'll vouch for that because pushing mine around without an engine is like pushing my truck with an engine in it) he said it was pertinent but def a good idea. Other than that, it wouldnt hurt to put in new suspension parts. When it comes to upgrading it usually comes down to the same old question, What kinda of powerplant are you gonna have?

suspension, and wiring! i have had multiple 71-73 mustangs and the wiring has always been a problem. Maybe because some of them have been hacked into!

Thanks guys. I am going to put in some headers , {Just for the loopy sound} cam , lifters, dualexhaust. The car has a 302/stick with 31,245 documented original miles. I am keeping the car mostly stock when it comes to the engine and trans. I live in Chicago IL
gas up here is 3.55 per gallon,so iam using the 2 barrel. My concern is the suspension. I want a firm suspension I am changing most of the bushings and springs to new. Besides this How come there is not a section for the 71-73 Mustangs on the forum .

Check out opentrackerracingproducts.com or tcp and rrs-online.com makes coil overs for the front. If you want a different looking export brace/monte carlo bar try http://www.mpgheads.com/ .The reason theres not a 71-73 section is they share a lot of parts from the older mustangs the mustang 2 shares nothing thats why they have there own section.

I think that a complete rebuild with a good set of shocks, and she will handle and ride like new. Unless the car sees the track a lot, save your money and your rump.

the softer suspension is one of the reasons i love the 71-73's! If you want a stiff suspension just use lowering springs and poly bushings that will give you what you are looking for but it wont be a enjoyable ride when you go cruising
