Just starting resto: book suggestions?

Just starting resto: book suggestions?
Today I bought a 1968 Coupe w/ 302 and 277,000 miles that hasn't been driven but once in the last 7 years. Fortunately very little rust. Wil probably create a driver, not a show car. I'm experienced in late model foreign auto repair.
My question: should I buy a repro of the original Ford shop manual (about 50 bucks). Any other books worth considering, like Larry Dobbs' Restore Your Mustang? Thanks, Kelly in Colorado

welcome to the forums bkcoburn, there are so many books a lot of good reads, thats pretty decent, i like: Authentic restoration guide Mustang 1964 1/2-1973 restoration it provides all the exploded views of multiple componets etc. tell you about engine combos tranns etc lots of good knowledge, i dont have the shop manual but i would suggest it 50$ is just a drop in the bucket in comparison to the restoration, but well worth the knowledge that comes from it

I'd recommend the shop manual and the the wiring manual at a minimum if you are going to do a total restore. Some of the restoration manuals get bogged down in specific things to do to make the restoration"CORRECT" if you are returning it to original factory condition. That may be more info than you really need if you are doing resto-mod or just a driver that doesn't have to beexactly original.
