Default GAUGES

well ive got the leds working in my dash but now the gagues dont work because it wont ground right. i cannot figure out how to fix it. i know they work because when the gauges were out of the black plastic housing and hooked up the fuel and everything was working. and they also ground out when touched against the metal which made all the gauges go high. but now that its all together a hooked up i cant figure out how to get the gauges grounded. anybodys help would be great. thanks

i don't know anything about 70s mustangs, but I'd check the connector on circuit board first if it carries ground where it should be.
check picture I've attached with comment and full wiring diagrams at:

http://www.themustangshop.com/resources.cfm

So if you have a multimeter, I'd check if you get full 12V+ over those 2 connectors.
If not, then check if you get full 12V+ over the red one and the chassis (or the black cable at ignition switch).
(testlight shoudl do as well)

Its been two years since we pulled out the dash and guages but it seems to me there was a ground wire hooked to the steering tree that helped with grounding for the cluster. Also it seems to me there is a voltage regulator for the guages in the harness between the radio choke and the guage.
