Default RE: Which brand of tires?

After reading this thread, I think I am leaning towards the BFG's G-force T/A KDW. They are cheaper in price than the GY's and seem like people that run them are happy and don't have the unfortunate events happen to them like the peole running GY's do. The BFG's were originally my first choice but sided with the GY's thinking I was getting a better tire but for the price difference and reviews, it doesn't seem like they are worth it. The BFG's will cost about $750 for all four where the GY's are about $900. I still need to talk to the tire guys to see. Will probably have them Saturday, as long as they have them in stock.

Good choice on the KDW's. As I mentioned I have the KDW's on my Mustang but I am also very happy with my Pirelli PZero Nero's on my DD. I would have them on my mustang if the tread on the KDW's wasn't so cool looking. I am on my second set and will buy them agian. Mileage is good, not great but it is a wonderful tire. I have also owned a set of Yokohama ES100's. They are a less expensive tire but have incredible grip. If I was looking for a economy performance tire it would be worth a look.

After looking at the BFG Radials, G-Force Sports, and G-Force KDW tires, I noticed that to get a decently wide wire for the rear, you have to get a Sport or Radial. KDW does not have many options for 15s. You have to have 16s+ to get any options.

Yes, I am running 17's. I plan something like 245/45/17 for the front and 275/40/17 for the rear. that is not concrete though.

I was considering BFG Radials or Firehawks, but after looking up BFG g-Force Sports, its not much more moneyand appears to have better reviews. Whats everyone think of 225/60VR/15's on 15x7 wheels? Biggest concern is dry-traction since wont be in rain, snow, etc. Hows handling and noise?
They'reaimed a little higher up than the various TA's and are decent enough tires as long as you only ask them to do one thing at a time when you're driving with any real enthusiasm. Decent enough straight-line grip whether accelerating or braking. Or decent enough cornering. But theydo not cope very well when you ask them to do much of both at the same time. They're more sensitive that way than most other tires that I've used. Get your braking done in a straight line, and bepointed mostly straight again beforegetting on the throttle and you'll be OK.

I happen to have two g-Sports in that very size (on 15 x 8.5's) on the back of my thumbnail car, and it's not at all difficult to get the tail to try to come around in 3rd gear on a 40-ish mph ramp (that puts the engine over 1000 rpm below its torque peak). Not nearly as good as the Firestone SZ50's in the same size that were on there previously (and which unfortunately are no longer unavailable).

Might make it a good drifting tire though . . .
