Default KICK PANEL DILEMA

hey guys, need advice!

I have 2 kick panels w/ speakers in the car, but when i put them in i noticed were the kick panel and the metal (of dashboard)
met the plastic panels were to long so i had to trim. Stupid me i trimed the panel right were the metal was going to meet and now theres a big gap and then i realized when i did the second one i just need to trim half of the innner panel and it fit perfect.
the one were theres a gap i used a big black paperclip thing and clamped each side of the panel and metal. so you don't notice the gap, but notice a big black clamp. my question or advice i need is= should i leave as is and keep my speakers or just buy new kick panels without speaker pods? (cuz the only sell in pairs and cost $80 a pair with speaker pods and $24 without, only need one!) and get rid of speakers?

help

heres a diagram:

Sounds like the real question is, Can you deal with the fact that its not perfect, or do you want to A. pay another 80$ for panels that will fit correctly, or B. pay another 24$ and sacrifice your speakers?

Personally I would live with it, but I'd need a picture to get a better visual.

Can't help, but I do have a question. How far out do the speaker pod stick? I'm more concerned about foot room and was going to mount decent speakers in the factory location on the dash with some 6x9s in the back.

If you notice it now you will always notice it and it will be a rub. I would spend the $80 and replace it. Put the spare one on craigslist or something for $40.
