Warming up an Engine

RE: Warming up an Engine
Dont forget, that from the factory, these cars had a stove pipe. Basically a length of flexible pipe that diirected warm air into the air cleaner. This was designed to help warm the carb/intake more quickly. There was other things. If Imnot mistaken, water passages in the factory intake manifold very also designed to warm the incoming air.
These arealso one of the very first thing that gets ditched when we start to upgrade.....
Trouble with cold starts are is one of the downsides of modifying you engine.
In saying that, even from new, carburated cars still required a warm up period, and as 67mustang says, its good for the engine anyway.

I am going to ask, What about when its 60 degrees plus, Turn it on, rev it up a few times and pop it into gear, Usually, Sometimes I do, place it in reverse, there is a light pop, but if i let it idle for awhile, and place it in reverse, its smooth.
Thats kinda whats going on.
