Default How do I lower my car?

How do I lower the total ride height of my car. I'd like to do it for appearance and a little better handling.

I have a 66 coupe. I read about Shelby drop and will probably do it. I'm considering installing the Performance Suspension Technologies (PST) Performance Polygraphite Super Front End Kit (and possibly new spring perches)while I'm at it.

I have leaf springs in the rear. How can I lower the rear without spending big $$?

Overall ride is not terrible as is. The worst partto me issome knocking and squeaking.

Any ideas/feedbackappreciated.

Let the air out of the tires.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Assuming the front end is tight, do the drop and buy the template from Daze as it makes the job a snap. Put in new shocks. Get a fat swaybar. Put Global West lowering springs in the back with poly bushings. Keep the rest of the money you would have spent on the fancy pants kit in your pocket at least for now, and see how it rides.

Nice looking car.

Personally I like your stance, if anything I would buy new coil springs for he front and drop it an inch. As for the rear tighten it up and leave the height... It would give you a mean stance to go along with that mean hood!

I would assume that new shocks would improve the ride quality as well.

Like I said I like your stance... but I understand low is the thing to do these days...

You can adjust your ride height for next to nothing.

You can lower the front with the Arning (Shelby) drop and cutting your front coil springs (start by cutting 1/2 coil).

For the rear you can buy lowering blocks what ever size you need for around $20.00.

yeah, if i were you id try cutting the front coil springs. thats the most cost effective way of lowering the front. maybe new leafs in the rear? lowering blocks will work too

In the rear you can either get lowering springs (be they mideye or reverse eye), you can have your springs "de-arcd" by a spring shop, or you can buy blocks. I think your tire clearance is pretty nice already, I wouldnt do anything more than .5-1"

In the front you can buy lowering springs, cut your current springs, do the shelby drop, or any combination of the 3. Again, I think its pretty good as it is. I'd do the drop as it will lower the car alittle and improve handling.
