Default 302 V8 Smell

To me, I say my car smells normal. To my wife, she says it smells like mustang. She says it stinks. I guess to me there is a smell of fuel and oil from the engine and exhaust. Should there be a noticable smell when you start thecar in the garage? I do noticewhen I drive home andpark it, itdoes smell alot.

If its not normal, What key things should I look for?

No catalytic converters, so there are more "smelly" emissions from the exhaust. Plus if it's a carb'd car then you have mild fuel vaporization from the bowls that you may smell. It may smell like oil if you have even minor leaks. It also depends on how good your nose is and how used to it you are.

You'd be amazed what you can get used to. [&:]

Just tell your wife that she smells, but you still put up with her and that she should be nice to the 'Stang.

Personally I love the smell of these old cars. The raw fuel, rich exhaust, oil, brakes and clutch odors add to the experience for me and bring back a lot of memories of past cars.
I wish they made a cologne like it too.
