Anyone use these before? Borg Warner Clutch Kit #90214 with a 1 Year/ 12,000 mile warranty. $90.00 bucks for a complete kit with pressure plate, clutch disk, clutch release bearing, alignment tool and instructions. Daily driver street car, not a racer.

I have no doubt the CenterForce kit is nice.. being a high performance clutch. This is just one of those areas where I'm thinking about saving some cash. The car will be driven by the wife 90% of the time and she is not a hard driver by any means. Was just wondering if anyone had used them before.

The CF I and II's are cheaper than the DF. The CF I is basically an upgrade from a stock clutch, and with their weight system, they're easier to operate than most other V8 clutches, which may be a factor for your wife. I understand wanting to save money, but some areas you need to be careful how hard you try and save, a clutch is something that you have to deal with every time you drive the car. They also last a long freakin time, I have something like 125K+ on my DF, and I beat on it rather often + passes at the track. Haven't had to replace it yet. Remember that the more often you have to replace the clutch, the less you may be saving in the long run, plus changing clutches is a pia. I'm not trying to convince you to buy a Centerforce(or some other brand, Spec is nice also, but I hear they have stiffer pedal effort), just stuff to consider. Don't get a clutch just cuz it's cheap. One reason I like CF's for street cars is because they're easy to operate, which you are VERY thankful of in traffic.

I did the Centerforce. You need to save money on things that aren't a pain in the **** to change out. Don't skimp on the clutch and pressure plate.

Umm.. yeah I guess your right there.. though I plan on an engine pull and upgrade (351w) 2 year after the car is done. Perhaps its best to get the heavier clutch now and be done with it.

If you get something like a CF DF now, it'll be overkill for a mostly stock engine, but nearly indestructable for the short term. If properly broken in and not abused it will most likely last until you go to a bigger engine(if mainly used on a DD mostly stock 289), and even be usable on the 351W swap. My DF is on it's second engine.
