This car is an example of how a car with low options is a rare car. My car has the R code 428 CJ motor but has no power brakes or power steering. Let me tell you, 4 drum brakes make you very cautious driving around. The car has very little options (AM Radio & deluxe belts). In 1969, something like 65% of Mustangs had power steering and like 55% had power brakes.
Really? I thought all mach 1's came standard with power disk brakes. I guess u could opt out for it? My car has both power brakes and power steering, but other than that there was like no options. Just the mach 1 interior and tinted glass.

The drums were larger on the 428 in '69, but it didn't help much on the stopping distance. When most all the cars out there (back in the 60's) had similiar brakes, it wasn't that big a deal. Now days, cars can stop twice as fast which is not good for the old cars! kalli, would love to see your car next year when we visit your beautiful country. My son's high school band is coming to Ireland for the St. Patrick's parades.

Did you at least get a "Muscle Car" shirt?

BTW, both of your cars are awesome, it looks like you love those shaker hoods.

Stunning cars!
What an awesome day that must have been. Pretty cool to have all the hard work and sweat you put into a project, appreciated like that.
Congrats!
Scott, you summed it up with this post. To have those guys want to do the segment on our car means more than they or anyone could know to my family. My boys (12 &14) were really impressed cause the car was always "dad's old car in the basement". The fact that my about teenage boys thought their dad is halfway cool is priceless.

Last year was a pretty cool year with the Muscle Car shoot and Carlisle Productions chose the car (along with 67 evil eleanor's) to be included in the All-Ford Nationals Invitational. When we got there, we found out that they (Carlisle Productions) used the car on all the trophys, t-shirts, flyers, dash plaques & show programs!! Check it out.
