Default Lug centric?

I need to have my Magnum 500's balanced. Iheard somewhere that these wheels arelug centric and have to balanced that way, as opposed to hub centric. Anyone familiar with this and do Magnums need to be balanced this specific way? Does it take special equipment to do this? Thanks

I never did anything special to balance my old magnums. Just used the basic setup on the machine at workthat uses the center of the rim.

I believe they are lug-centric, and yes, it does require special equipment to properly balance lug-centric rims. A good tire shop will be able to do this for you. That said, you can often get away with a simple hub-centric balance.

A lug centric machine will have the 5 studs to ceter the wheel when it gets balanced where as a lug centric uses a cone in the center of the wheel.I used to mount and balance wheels and never did anything different for them.
